Get Started with the Chat Feature

NOTE
Shopl Chat is available on both the app and dashboard.
Only administrators can activate the chat feature by setting it to "Use".

1. Understanding the Feature

Work Messenger

Shopl Chat enables real-time communication among team members without needing personal contact details. Files and images can also be shared seamlessly. You can create chat rooms for specific team members and track whether messages have been read.

Internal Help Desk

With the "Chat with Admin" feature, employees can direct inquiries or requests to designated channels and managers by topic.

For example:

  • Leave/Vacation requests to the HR manager
  • Inventory/Store issues to the VMD manager

2. Enabling the Chat Feature

Only administrators can enable the chat feature:

  1. Go to Dashboard > [Feature settings] > [Chat].
  2. Toggle the Chat feature to ON.

3. Chat via Dashboard (For Admins and Leaders)

  1. Log in to the Shopl PC dashboard and go to [Menu] > [Chat].
  2. Click the speech bubble icon to start a chat and select a member. Click the (i) icon in the top-right corner to view channel info, edit channel notifications, or rename the chat room.
  3. After creating a chat room with the selected members, send your messages. The recipients will see the chat room on their end.
  4. To attach files or images, click the file icon next to the text box.

4. Chat via App

  1. Open the Shopl app and click the speech bubble icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Tap the Add icon in the bottom-right corner to select members to start a chat.
  3. Click the Members icon in the top-left corner to view channel information, edit notifications, or rename the chat room.
  4. After creating the chat room with the selected members, send your messages. The recipients will see the chat room on their end.
  5. To attach files or images, click the Plus icon to the left of the text box.

Q. How can I receive push notifications for chats on the web?

To receive chat notifications through your web browser, make sure to check both Shopl Chat notification settings and browser notification settings:

  • Note: To receive notifications, the Shopl Chat window must remain open.

  • Follow these steps to enable notifications in Chrome:
  • Click the Options icon in the top-right corner of Chrome.
  • Select the [Settings] menu.
  • Search for "Site Settings" in the search bar.
  • Navigate to Notifications > Manage Exceptions.
  • Click Add under allowed notifications and add: https://chat.shoplworks.com
